My journey started when I was fully lost in my pain. Struggling to manage back pain and migraines, I felt frustrated and depressed. Nothing worked. It was a very sad time in my life.
By chance, I attended a few mindfulness classes without holding any hopes or expectations. I was certain that just like everything else I had tried, this fairly new-then idea of meditation would not be of any help either. But in the fourth class, everything changed. During the meditation, I suddenly felt my migraine disappear. It felt like a miracle.
Since then, I’ve been researching and learning more about how mindfulness works. It was helpful that in 2010–2011, there was already a growing body of research showing clear evidence of the effectiveness of mindfulness meditation. I became determined to understand it more deeply. As I began to benefit from the practice, I felt an urge to share this 'miracle' of mindfulness with others.
I was very fortunate to discover Breathworks on my journey. The Mindfulness for Health course, developed by Vidyamala Burch (MBE), completely transformed my relationship with persistent back pain. I trained with Breathworks to become a teacher and remain deeply grateful to all my teachers who supported me along the way. I stopped being a sufferer. Although I still experience discomfort and pain in my back, I live a very contented life and enjoy many things I am now comfortably able to do.
As I deepened my understanding and teaching of mindfulness, I found myself increasingly drawn to mindful movement - the way breath and gentle motion can work together to bring balance, calm, and clarity. Over time, I came to a realisation: the mindful movements I had been teaching for years were, in fact, rooted in the ancient practice of Qigong. Recognising this felt like uncovering a missing piece of a puzzle. It was the next logical - and intuitive - step on my journey.
That deeper inquiry into Qigong really began during a more turbulent phase of my life. Perimenopause brought challenges on a whole new level - chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia symptoms, brain fog, and a sudden onset of tinnitus. The pain was persistent, and my once-reliable mind no longer felt like an accessible tool for managing it all. I was used to problem-solving through thought - but now, thinking only made me more tired and confused.
Physical exercises like Pilates, yoga, even swimming only seemed to aggravate my pain. I went from one therapist to another, hoping for a fix, until I realised something important: no one else could do this for me. I had to become an active participant in my own healing. That’s when I returned to the foundational practices I knew well - particularly the gentle mindful movements from the Mindfulness for Health course. I started slowly... gently, gently... and gradually, I began to feel a shift.
That’s when I chose to train as a Qigong instructor, focusing on health and wellbeing. Since committing to daily practice, my balance, flexibility, and strength have improved massively. Pain visits me far less frequently. And most importantly, I feel happier, lighter, more resilient - and I hear the same from many people I now teach.
Mindfulness and Qigong are both pathways to a healthier, more joyful life. My mission is to share these practices with as many people as I can - so that they, too, can experience the peace and empowerment that I’ve found through them.

I'm also a Breathworks Associate Teacher, Certified MBCL Teacher, Accredited Psychotherapist (MBACP Accred.) and Supervisor (MA).
Since completing my Teacher Accreditation in 2016, I have taught many groups, couples and individuals. I have enjoyed organising and leading retreats, as well as supporting my colleagues with their courses and retreats - both very experienced teachers and those at the beginning of their journeys.
I was privileged to speak on the national Radio, and to work closely with co-founders of Breathworks. But mostly I feel grateful to all my students for allowing me to teach and witness their amazing journeys and growth.
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the practice of being fully aware of your thoughts, feelings, and the world around you—without judgment. It involves being present and engaged in daily life, helping you enhance your mental and physical well-being, build resilience to stress, and live more fully. Meditation is a key part of this journey and is simple to learn and practice.
